Unusual perspectives of St Peter's

Among the architectural masterpieces of Rome, St. Peter's is one of the most popular destinations for tourists, for its masterpieces and the history it can tell.

Few, however, know of a very special spot where the dome can be admired. It is in fact the keyhole of the gate of the Priory of the Knights of Malta.

From this unique position, it is possible to see the Basilica immersed in the hedges of the 18th-century garden surrounded by the colours of the sky; we recommend a visit around sunset for an even more evocative memory.

This perspective, which may appear to be the result of chance, was actually created following renovations that took place around 1765.

Nearby you can also admire the Orange Garden and the Circus Maximus.
