Theme parks around Rome: where to go with friends and family
Are you travelling with family or friends, and love theme parks and water parks? Here is a mini guide about the main amusement parks in and around Rome, for a truly exciting stay in the capital.
Water parks
Just past the ring road, only 15 kilometres from the centre of Rome, you can visit Hydromania water park, where you can spend warm days sliding into refreshing pools with your friends and family. The attractions are suitable for all ages and you can easily alternate between adrenaline and total relaxation in this oasis on the outskirts of Rome.
A little further away, near Civitavecchia, you'll find the largest water park in central Italy: Aquafelix. There you'll find dream pools, water rapids which you can ride down in a dingy, and water slides for every age and level. Not to mention the games, shows and the music that never stops! The park also has a bar, pizzeria and restaurant where you can eat typical Italian and Roman food, while relaxing among lush trees and carpets of green grass, just a few metres from the sea.
Amusement parks
If you love having fun no matter what the season, nothing beats exploring one of the capital's theme parks. The first one we recommend is Rainbow Magicland, the largest amusement park in Rome, about 60 kilometres from the centre, with 38 attractions and a great selection of shows every day. The park isn't just made for families and children, but for adults too! There is something to suit every taste, from classic rapids that take you through waterfalls and unexpected twists and turns, to the most thrilling roller coaster ever! If you love animals and especially sea creatures, we recommend a trip to Zoomarine, located 30 kilometres south of the city. Inside the park, a huge expanse of 40 hectares, you can watch acrobatic shows and demonstrations with dolphins, sea lions and seals. Not far from Zoomarine, film and television enthusiasts will be in their element at Cinecittà World, the only amusement park entirely dedicated to cinematography, where you can enjoy different attractions inspired by films and beyond. Inside Cinecittà World there's also a water park with lots of exciting and relaxing games for the whole family.
Finally, if you want to relive the history of Rome in an experience that involves all the senses through digital and stereoscopic technology, we recommend trying the Time Elevator Experience, located in the historic centre. It's a unique opportunity to go back in time to the foundation of the legendary city and see virtually every stage and historical figure that formed the Italian capital.
